September 24, 1940 – November 29, 2001
It’s been several years since we have had to add a name to our necrology, but this year will be different. Club member Bill Allcock passed away on November 29th after a battle with cancer. Bill was not only a Greater Toronto Multiple Alarm Association (GTMAA) member, but also a retired member of the Toronto Fire Department (TFD).
Born on September 24, 1940. He joined the TFD on February 15, 1963. Among his many postings, he spent several years on Pumper 23, before transferring to Car 44 on A1 Shift. He retired from Claremont Street (TFD Station 2) on May 5, 1997.
After retirement, he kept busy with the TFD War Veterans’ Colour Guard, marching in many ceremonies. His funeral was well attended by dozens of members of the department, as well as the Colour Guard. In remembrance of Bill’s passing, the GTMAA has made a donation in his name to the Phyllis M. E. and Donald O. Nash Memorial Fund, a Winnipeg based charity that distributes funds to needy causes. His wife Donna and two children, survive Bill.
