1957 – January 18, 1988
Ted was born and raised in Burlington, ON. He became a schoolteacher and taught our own Randy Tiffin. Ted was also a part time ambulance attendant. He was married.
Ted was a drawer of plans for models and a master model builder of scratch built 1/25 scale superbly detailed emergency vehicles both as a hobby and a business.
In 1977, Ted built two very detailed foam boss airport crash rigs for CDN Nordic Research and Development. They have been displayed all over world at trade shows and were insured for $5,000 each.
Ted built a model of an American LaFrance Tractor Drawn Aerial spent more than 100 hours building it. It was raffled off at the 1978 IFBA Convention in Toronto. Ted also built several models for other fundraising draws.
Ted was involved in the production and distribution of the Ontario Fire Buff Associates’ newsletter, the Third Alarm. He contributed articles to the Third Alarm on drawing and building model fire apparatus.
Apart from being a master model builder, Ted was also interested in fire photography.
Aside from being Metro Toronto Multiple Alarm Association (MTMAA) member #38 and OFBA member #14 Ted was one of the organizers of the Halton Region Fire Buff Associates and Burlington Fire Buff Associates
Ted died suddenly on January 18, 1988.
